After dropping two out of three against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Chicago Cubs will begin interleague play against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field tonight. This is the first of two interleague series where the Cubs will need a DH, the second being the second round of the Cross Town Classic against the White Sox on June 18. Can the Cubs beat the White Sox arch-rival before taking on the White Sox themselves? I can finally stop asking when Dempster will get his first win, but can he make it two wins in two starts? Will Starlin Castro be awake out there?
Game 1 (7:10 pm CT)
Travis Wood (0-2, 4.56 ERA) vs. P.J. Walters(2-1, 4.69 ERA)
Game 2 (1:10 pm CT)
Jeff Samardzija (5-3, 3.19 ERA) vs. Scott Diamond (4-1, 1.86 ERA)
Game 3 (1:10 pm CT)
Ryan Dempster (1-3, 2.59 ERA) vs. Cole De Vries (1-1, 4.20 ERA)
CHC: Ryan Dempster (7 IP, 0 ER, 3 SO)
- Despite all of the offense by the Cubs in game one, Dempster gets my nod as the Cubs stud in the series. He threw seven scoreless innings and finally got all the offensive support he needed to capture a long overdue win.
MIN: Ben Revere (.455 AVG, 2 RBI)
CHC: Darwin Barney (.091 AVG, 2 SO)
- After getting one hit in game one, Barney would remain hitless for the rest of the series.
MIN: Ryan Doumit (.154 AVG, 6 LOB)
