Patrick Kane Signs Deal with Swiss League’s EHC Biel

As if the recent lockout (un)developments weren’t discouraging enough, the golden boy of Chicago hockey will be joining many other NHL players in taking their talents overseas.

Patrick Kane announced Tuesday via his Twitter account that he has agreed to a deal with the Swiss League’s EHC Biel, where he will team up with the Boston Bruins’ Tyler Seguin. Kane will leave for Switzerland on Sunday, sticking around for Friday’s ‘Champs for Charity’ game. USA Today reported that Kane’s pay is being covered by private investors.

“Excited and thankful to join EHC Biel in the Swiss league,” Kane tweeted. “Looking forward to the experience.”

In addition to Kane, five other Blackhawks players have committed to European teams, including Viktor Stalberg, Bryan Bickell, Michal Roszival and Michael Frolik.
