K.C. Johnson tweets: “Taj: “I looked at the numbers and that’s a lot of money, especially the security.”
Aggrey Sam: “Taj: $38M 4 years”
The news breaking 30 minutes after the Chicago Bulls defeated the Sacramento Kings on Halloween 93-87. Bloggers and fans on the Twittersphere were disgusted when news from reputable NBA writer Adrian Wojnarowski claimed that the two were unlikely to come to an agreement. Gibson and the Bulls were roughly $8 million apart over a period of four years. Before tonight’s tipoff, word broke that DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors was given a $40 million extension. Tweets of disgust and angry Bulls fans were rampant. How could the Bulls make the same mistake twice? Why is Jerry Reinsdorf being frugal?
With career averages of 23 minutes, 8 points, and 6 boards, Taj Gibson played 19 minutes tonight and scored 4 points with 5 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. He also recorded one foul. Against a Kings team with an above average core of bigs, finishing the game with only one foul speaks volumes about the defense that Taj is able to bring. Many fans would love to see Carlos Boozer shipped out next season to allow Gibson to start. They might just get their wish.
