Heat Frustrate, Clobber Bulls in 86-67 Blowout

joakim noah lebron james.jpgTo put it bluntly, tonight just wasn’t the Bulls‘ night. It started early, as a plague of turnovers made things difficult from the get-go. Thanks to some strong play from Nate Robinson, they were able to keep themselves in the game for a while, but it didn’t last all that long.

By halftime, the Bulls were down 10, at 45-35. Even though they weren’t playing well (turning the ball over more than any game since ’04), they were at least fighting, but the Heat were just the better team. Especially without the assistance of Kirk Hinrich, who sat out thanks to an ever-lingering injury. His absence was particularly painful after Robinson started picking up fouls.

Marcus Teague, who, despite what I’m about to say, played surprisingly well in stretches, was forced to come in for significant minutes in the third quarter after Robinson started out the quarter by picking up his fourth foul. As good as he looked at times, Marcus just wasn’t able to compete with a clearly-more-talented team. Streaky though Hinrich’s shooting has been this year, his defense would have certainly come in handy.

All of that said, however, you don’t really need to know too much more about this game other than that the Bulls were beaten by a better team. Plain and simple. With a healthy Rose (and Hinrich) who’s totally in sync with the current cast, I think the Bulls can legitimately compete. Right now…

Not so much.
