Blackhawks Win The 2013 Stanley Cup!

Chicago BlackhawksEver since the record-setting points streak earlier this season, the team always said that anything short of a Stanley Cup victory, the season would be considered a failure.

Consider the season a success.

The Chicago Blackhawks have won the Stanley Cup for the second time in four years.

The Blackhawks got the better of the Bruins by 3-2margin of victory. The Blackhawks scored two goals in 17 seconds to overtake the Bruins in front a raucous pro-Boston crowd.

The Bruins got on the board first in the first period with a goal from Chris Kelly. He was assisted by Tyler Seguin and Daniel Paille.

The Blackhawks evened things up in the second period with a short-handed goal from Jonathan Toews. Toews was unassisted.

The Bruins took the lead in the third period with a Milan Lucic slap shot. Lucic was assisted by David Krejci.

Late in the third period, the Blackhawks sent goaltender Corey Crawford to the bench so an extra attacker could be on the ice.  Bryan Bickell scored with over two minutes left in the game. He was assisted by Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith.

Seventeen seconds later Dave Bolland scored a wrist shot goal to put the Blackhawks up for good. Bolland was assisted by Michael Frolik and Johnny Oduya.

The Blackhawks continue to struggle on the power play by going 0 -2.

Duncan Keith led all skaters in ice time with 28:51.

Chicago had 31 shots on goal while Boston had 25 in the same category.

The two teams combined for six penalties. The Blackhawks had four of them.

The Bruins, on numerous occasions, tried to ratchet up the pressure. The Blackhawks stayed calm and matched the pressure.

Corey Crawford turned out an outstanding effort with 23 saves for the Blackhawks. The same amount he had in game five.

Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask made 28 stops for the Bruins.

It is safe to say the Blackhawks had a successful season. There is no reason to think that they cannot keep the up for seasons to come. The last two minutes of the game showed that this team had the type of mettle needed to win a Stanley Cup.
